Our Aspheres

Archer OpTx molded lenses are produced using the PerfectLens™ technology platform. This proprietary technology produces high-yield long-life molds, which are free of the high-frequency surface defects commonly found on many molded lenses due to single-point diamond turning of the molds. These high-frequency defects do not typically show up on interferograms, but can produce troublesome diffraction effects, particularly in visible light applications.

PerfectLens™ molds support a wide range of optical glasses, providing the lens designer with the freedom to select the glass that is best suited to the application.

Archer OpTx offers precision molded aspheres in a variety of diameters from a few millimeters to several tens of millimeters in diameter. These aspheres are manufactured by pressing glass preforms in carefully prepared molds. Hard molds have a typical lifetime of tens of thousands of parts (size dependent) and are cost-effective for volumes of 200-1000+ (depending upon the size of the part).

Typical peak-to-valley figure errors (irregularity) are less than 0.5 µm. Center thickness and diameter control of 30 µm are typical. Manufacturability is determined by local radii and tooling limitations as well as the flow properties of the glass, which is quite viscous.

Precision molded aspheres are the ideal solution when:

* Medium to large volumes of the same lens are needed to support your product
* Modest NRE charges are acceptable
* The glass type selected has been qualified for molding

Catalog molded aspheres can generally be shipped same day. Custom molded aspheres have a 10-12 week delivery time.

Our Filters

Polarizers

Archer OpTx produces the Power Plus Series polarizer, a high power transmissive polarizer with excellent contrast and designed to withstand high power and to resolve the handling issues normally associated with NanoWires.

Optical Filters

Optical filters provide the essential ability to selectively accept or reject different wavelengths of light. Archer OpTx has experienced coating engineers available to design and manufacture optical filters that meet your specifications. We specialize in providing a high-quality, cost-effective solution to your filter requirements. We typically manufacture components to OEM specifications.

We can make custom interference, short-wave or long wave pass, neutral density or other filters to your specifications.

Traditional Optics

Beyond aspherical optics, Archer offers the same high level of performance for a wide variety of optical components. Axicons, cylinders, mirrors, prisms, windows, fiber pigtails (single or multiple, regular or PM fiber) and other specialty components are all available in a range of sizes and materials.

Whether you need to generate a line, circularize a diode beam, reflect, disperse, or transmit light, Archer's specialty components will put you on the path to the optimal solution.

Whether you need prototype quantities or a million units, Archer OpTx is the supplier of choice.

Archer OpTx can provide a full range of traditional optical components with spherical, cylindrical, flat and toroidal surfaces. Components are available in diameters of a few millimeters to support miniature cameras through several hundred millimeters for your large-scale projects.

Optical Assemblies

Archer OpTx can provide mounted lenses in a variety of different forms.  All of our PerfectLens™ molded glass aspheric lenses can be mounted into simple threaded holders or mechanical mounts custom fabricated to customer requirements.  Our optical and mechanical engineers will work with you to provide the most cost effective solution to your mounted lens needs.

Additionally, Archer OpTx can provide mounted, multi-element optical systems. We can provide optical/mechanical design assistance for your application, or simply manufacture to customer supplier drawings.  Our combined optical and mechanical expertise ensures your assemblies will meet even the most demanding specifications.
